Filmmakers are the mythmakers of our time—our stories don’t just capture the world, they shape how we see it, remember it, and dream beyond it.

Thalia Mavros is an award-winning filmmaker, producer, and entrepreneur shaping the future of storytelling across film, media, and immersive experiences. Best known for her work in documentary and immersive storytelling, she is now expanding into narrative filmmaking—telling stories rooted in truth, where reality itself feels more surreal than fiction. She is the founder of The FRONT, a production company dedicated to amplifying female and underrepresented voices, and the co-founder of Bilili Creative Lab, a non-profit launching in 2025 to train emerging female filmmakers across Ghana and the African continent.

Her work spans premium streaming, theatrical, and immersive formats, including Netflix’s Emmy-nominated Principles of Pleasure, Hulu/Freeform’s Keep This Between Us, the SXSW-winning AI-powered interactive XR experience Consensus Gentium (dir. Karen Palmer), Sundance-selected Sirens (dir. Rita Baghdadi) and Beyondfest’s Welcome Space Brothers (dir. Jodi Wille). She also executive produced National Geographic’s Resurrection Island (dir. Bertie Gregory), which won at the 2019 Jackson Wild Awards, often called the ‘Oscars of nature filmmaking.’ She is a proud member of the Producers Guild of America (PGA).

Prior to launching The FRONT, Thalia was one of the first female executives at Vice Media during its meteoric rise as a generation-defining media company. As Executive Creative Director, she helped shape VICE, launched groundbreaking verticals, and co-founded its creative agency Virtue. She led The Creators Project, a pioneering collaboration with Intel spotlighting technology-driven artists, and directed projects featuring Pharrell Williams and Johnny Knoxville. She has also conducted in-depth interviews with cinematic icons like Errol Morris, Werner Herzog, and Harmony Korine.

Beyond filmmaking, Thalia is a recognized thought leader and strategist. She has been named a UN Women Champion for Change in Media, won the She Runs It Changing the Game Award, and was named one of Variety’s 37 New Yorkers Making an Impact in Entertainment (alongside Lady Gaga and Trevor Noah). She has spoken at the Paley Center for Media, NY Advertising Week, Delphi Economic Forum, and Adobe Think Tank at Cannes, shaping global conversations at the intersection of media, culture, and technology. She has also directed thinkpieces for the World Economic Forum (WEF), furthering discussions on global innovation and cultural shifts.

Thalia has also judged some of the most prestigious awards in journalism, digital media, and non-fiction storytelling, including the News & Documentary Emmy Awards, the Webby Awards, the Anthem Awards, and the Realscreen Awards. She has taught at Johns Hopkins University’s Masters in Film and Media program and Winthrop University’s Executive MBA program, mentoring the next generation of filmmakers and creative entrepreneurs.

Thalia also advises startups and founders, drawing from her experience launching The FRONT as a digital media platform before successfully pivoting into premium film and television production ahead of the digital media bubble burst. Her focus is on the psychology of entrepreneurship, helping creative leaders navigate uncertainty and build resilient businesses.

Originally from Athens, Greece, Thalia is passionate about mythology, consciousness, spiritual exploration, and the transformative power of psychedelics for healing trauma.
